October 11th is Indigenous Peoples’ Day
Indigenous Peoples’ Day seeks to acknowledge the existence of thriving communities and cultures prior to colonization, to acknowledge the ongoing harm of colonization to Indigenous peoples and to lift up the continued contributions of Native Americans to all aspects of life.
This is the first year Oregon has recognized Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Oregon was the 11th state to acknowledge this day as a holiday.
One of the ways we can participate Indigenous Peoples’ Day is by learning whose land we are on.
